Braşov is a city in Romania and the capital of Braşov County and is the 7th largest Romanian city, after Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timişoara, Iaşi, Craiova and Galaţi. Braşov is located in the central part of the country, about 166 km from Bucharest. It is surrounded by the Southern Carpathians, and is part of the Transylvania region.

Transport

The Braşov local transport network is well-developed, with around 50 bus and trolleybus lines. There is also a regular bus line serving Poiana Braşov, the nearest winter resort. The construction of Braşov Airport was inaugurated in April 15, 2008 but stopped then due to political issues. The new auction for deciding which is going to take place soon. The project consists of a terminal capable of handling 1 million passengers per year and a 2,800 meter-long runway. The A3 highway is also planned to pass right by the city's edge.

Hitching Out

  • Bucharest, Sinaia, Predeal: on Calea Bucuresti str., somewhere after the many Hypermarkets (cars to Bucharest go on the middle lane)

Bucharest: From the train station (gara) take the bus number 8 or 23 until the last stop. On the other side of the road you will see McDonalds - walk a bit more up where the cars can stop

  • Cluj- Napoca, Tg. Mures: at the end of Grivitei str. where the big bridge begins
  • Sibiu: the road section from the intersection str. Lunga and sos. Cristianului (Bartolomeu area) to the bridge. Definitely use a written paper with Sibiu, do not stay where people stay for direction Rasnov, Bran. Go 100 m away.
  • Rasnov, Bran : in the intersection str. Lunga and sos. Cristianului (Bartolomeu area)
  • Bacau, Sf. Gheorghe: in the intersection Harmanului str. and Garii Boulevard
