Botswana is a country in Southern Africa. The main roads are paved and in a good condition. Secondary roads are mostly unpaved, but also in a good condition.

Hitchhiking

It seems to be easy to hitch from one town to another but it should be much more harder to hitch in the national parks. At least for a male hitchhiking in Botswana seems not to be very dangerous, but waiting times can be long. Keep in mind, that driving and drinking is sometimes common in Botswana and many accidents are caused by that. If you figure out, that your driver is drunk, invent an excuse and get off the car. As a single female you should check some extra safety issues or maybe use one of the extremly cheap busses.

Be sure to carry enough water and something to eat with you, if you get stuck.
