Baltimore (Maryland)

Everyone thinks that if you go to Baltimore you will be murdered, but I found it really friendly. Almost entirely black- cool, funky black people. White people stick out but it's OK.

There's this form of hitchhiking inside Baltimore called "hacking". You wave your index finger pointed downwards like you're shaking it. Payment is expected but less than a cab- really it's just a form of unlicensed cab driving.

Everybody sells loose cigarettes in Baltimore for a quarter. "It's their hustle".
