Funnily, Albany is the capital of New York State. It is a very bad city for hitchhiking. It's basically a small downtown and an amazingly huge suburb. Everyone drives a car, but noone picks you up. Apart from cops. Try to avoid it.
Going south, New York City
Though, South from Albany there are two service stations on the I-87. Try to get onto these and come back here with your results.
