Agadir is a city in the southwest of Morocco.

Hitching Out

Northeast to Marrakesh

Take a grand taxi from Place de l'Abbatoir to the roundabout next to the large store Metro. Here there is a direction marked "Marrakesh". Often Moroccans are also hitching from there, and they will pay their drivers, making it difficult to enjoy a free ride if someone else gets into the vehicle with you.

North to Essaouira

There is a costal road straight north to Essaouira, but it has little traffic. One can get to Essaouira with less waiting time by hitching on the Marrakesh route as far as the town of Chichaoua. In this town there is a roundabout where Marrakesh-bound drivers turn off, allowing you to cross the street and hitch from the direction marked "Essaouira". Between Agadir and the town of Tamri, though, hitchhiking is easy. The beaches along this stretch are popular surf-spots and traffic is relatively high. To the north of Tamri, the traffic density gets lower, but the scarcity of villages ensures long distance rides.
