The A46 is an Autobahn in Germany. It is currently non-contiguous and split in several parts in the state of , an extension to Kassel in was planned but has been abandoned.

    • There are two ramps for going east, and one for going west. For direction east, the ramp for cars coming from Erkrath is safer for hitchhiking, as there is some space for cars to stop. The second choice offers much more traffic coming from Düsseldorf, but there is no hard-shoulder and cars can hardly stop.

    • motorway junction for the A3. It's not possible to hitchhike here!

    • Actually, if people go out to Wuppertal-Sonnborn, you can get out here. They can let you out at the on-ramp, where you can catch cars going further to Wuppertal or onto the A1. No real space for cars to stop, but it's possible to hitchhike here.
