Schiphol is the main airport of The Netherlands, it is located 18 km south-east of Amsterdam. Getting a ride to Amsterdam is definitely possible from this spot. You just have to go on the take-away upstairs.
Getting a hitch to another place in the Netherlands is easy as well, just go to Departures, where people will have place in their cars since they have just dropped someone off. Since people are supposed to be able to park there for a moment as well to drop off people, they are able to stop for hitchhikers as well.
