Malmö (Malmo) is a city in the South West southwest of Sweden. It is very close to Copenhagen, to which it is connected by a bridge. There are also ferries between Malmö and Travemünde in Germany.
There are a couple of hostels and the public transport is quite good in the centre.{| align="right" | __TOC__ |}

==== Behind Midhems "The motorway begins next to the McDonalds"in the neighborhood Midhem, Malmö ====where cars enter from two directions. Stand several meters in front of the motorway sign. McDonalds or Statoil can provide you with cardboard for writing a sign, which is essential for getting a lift in the right direction.
This is a really good As of July 2018 I used this spot to get North. Make a sign (McDonald's or Statoil can provide you with needed material). There are traffic lights for Göteborg and just before the motorway-sign at the on-ramp with lots space for cars to stop. Take rides past Helsingborg only - then you will get past the motorway knot E4/E6; you can also accept a ride to the rest area at Glumslöv (which comes before Helsingborg). If you go with the second alternative you should write "Helsingborg" on the sign. You can also ask people outside the service station, some have found that easier. Others prefer hitchhiking with a signs since it will increase your chances of meeting a interesting driver.If you want to go on the E22 you should ask for a lift to Kristianstadwaited 30 min.If you´re going to Lund (or Landskrona) you should write the cityname on the sign right awayIt works very well.
==== For going north/northwest, take rides past Helsingborg only – then you will get past the motorway knot E4/E6. You can also accept a ride to the rest area at Glumslöv-reas area (which comes before Helsingborg), E6 and E20 ====if you go with this, which probably is the best, you should write "Helsingborg" on the sign.
It is situated 40 km north of Malmö and is good both for heading north or south. If trying you want to go south to Denmark this might be on the place to change car before E22 you end up inside the big cities of Malmö or Lund. Its possible to reach Glumslöv by train from many cities along the southwest coastwrite "Kristianstad" on your sign.
If you're going to Lund (or Landskrona) you should write the city name on the sign right away.
=== West Note that the main route to Stockholm is the E4. The E22 also goes towards Copenhagen and Denmark and South towards Skanör/Falsterbo ===Stockholm, but it is a slow, scenic route that can add as much as a day to your travel time.
Walk on Nobelvägen in the direction of Dalaplan and Mobilia shopping center. When you reach Dalaplan, Nobelvägen changes name to Trelleborgsvägen, but continue until next big cross where Trelleborgsvägen meets Stadiongatan. Almost everything exept alcohol is cheaper in Sweden compared to Denmark, so it could be a good idea to eat before you start your journey to Denmark. Malmö is famous for its cheap and tasty falafels and there is a few restaurants along Nobelvägen. On the opposite side of the crossroad Trelleborgsvägen turns into a real highway (rest area,13.000807&sspnE6 and E20 =0.008035,0.019011&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Stadiongatan,+Malm%C3%B6,+Sk%C3%A5ne+L%C3%A4n&ll=55.57832,13.006643&spn=0.004015,0.009506&t=h&z=17 map) and many danish cars passing here. Liftarkungen prefers to stand on the shoulder of the highway, right after the stoplights, but there is other alternatives close by. Using a sign is necessery since the highway splits in many different directions.

Option 1: Walk on Nobelvägen in the direction of Dalaplan and Mobilia shopping center. When you reach Dalaplan, Nobelvägen changes name to Trelleborgsvägen, but continue until next big cross where Trelleborgsvägen meets Stadiongatan. Just before Stadiongatan there is a big bus stop that is possible to hitch from. Use a sign that says "DK".

Option 2: You can also take bus number 6 towards Klagshamn and get of at the stop Ollebo. Walk left towards the roundabout and stand just after it. Once again a sign with 'DK' is very helpful. An even better place is to walk across the roundabout and through the tunnel to the highway entrance. A lot of space for cars to stop, they come in a slow speed and they are all going to Denmark. The best place to get to Denmark from Malmö.

Abreycierra was in the option 1 spot for 3 hous and nobody stopped and he decided to change to the option 2 spot. Even before he arrived to the roundabout, a car already stopped and pick him up.
