Pippa Bacca was an experienced hitch-hiking artist from Italy. Dressed up as a bride she was on a trip with her friend to promote world-peace and to show that trusting strangers increases peace. They started this trip Brides on Tour on the 8th of March 2008and before arriving in Turkey they had gone through [[Slovenia]], [[Croatia]], [[Bosnia]] and [[Bulgaria]].
Pippa went missing on the 31th of March of 2008 after she had left [[Istanbul]]. Her body was found dead in a forest near the town of [[Gebze]] in [[Turkey]], just 30-40 kilometers from Istanbul. Reports mention she was the northwestern province victim of Kocaeli in sexual or [[Turkeygender violence]]. Pippa Bacca her 's real name was Giuseppina Pasqualino di Marineo and she . She was 33 years old.
==Goals of the trip==
The trip was an artistic expression of peace. The two women were hitch-hiking to [[Jerusalem]] to promote the message of peace. They were taking photos of drivers offering them rides, uploaded these on their [http://bridesontour.fotoup.net/ website], and which they wanted to use for an exhibition in Italy. They also aimed at increasing peace by spreading the idea of trusting random locals.

Turkey witnessed a huge response to what happened. Public officials such as the Prime-Minister also responded with disgust. Newspapers in Turkey were also communicating messages of shame and disgust on their front-pages.
