Pyatigorsk (Russian: Пятигорск) is a resort city in Stavropol Krai, Russia. It is the administrative center of the municipal formation Pyatigorsk, the largest city in the Caucasian Mineral Waters region and the second largest in Stavropol Krai after Stavropol.

Hitchhiking out
South towards Nalchik via R217 "Kavkaz"
- Take any minibus along Georgievskoye Highway to the junction with the old bypass. On the 12th kilometer of Georgievskoye Highway there is an interchange with the new bypass of the "Kavkaz" highway.
- Just past the junction is the federal checkpoint "Malka." There are stops nearby ("DPS Post"); dozens of minibuses pass every hour between Pyatigorsk and Nalchik.
- Another large police post is located at the ring interchange in the middle of the Baksan bypass road, where the road heads to Prielbrusie.
North towards Mineralnye Vody and the airport via R217 "Kavkaz"
- Ring intersection of the old bypass road, south of Inozemtsevo. Stop: "Poselok Energetik." Bus #16 to the last stop. On the eastern edge of Energetik, the new bypass of the "Kavkaz" highway passes. Walking takes about 15 minutes.
- Junction of the bypass and Gagarin Street in Inozemtsevo. Ask for the "Lenta" hypermarket. Minibuses #113 and #213 turn before the junction. After the junction is the stop "11th km," accessible by minibuses #223B from the bus station and #133 from Essentuki.
- Bus and minibus #223 to the city of Mineralnye Vody. Get off just after the turn off the highway, at the stop "Gosstrakh." Return to the highway past the fountain near TRC "Vershina."
- Another 5 km onwards is a large interchange near the airport and the turnoff for Kislovodsk. It can be practical to get there by local hitchhiking or by minibuses from Mineralnye Vody. Past the interchange there are a few car dealers and a convenient pull-off for trucks. There are no direct minibuses from Pyatigorsk to the airport, only with a transfer at the train station. There is also a local train from Pyatigorsk to Mineralnye Vody.
West towards Cherkessk via A165
- Cherkessk Highway starts near the "Skachki" station, which is reachable by the Kislovodsk–Mineralnye Vody train. However, hitchhiking here is among houses.
- Bus 104D from the Upper Market to Suvorovskaya village. If you don't want to walk out of Suvorovskaya, you can get off at any of the earlier stops on the highway, for example in Svoboda, and hitch at the checkpoint. You can also get off near Novoblagodarnoye, right after the interchange with the A157 from Kislovodsk to Mineralnye Vody.
Southwest towards Kislovodsk via A157
- By mentioned bus 104D to Novoblagodatnoye, then walk back to the interchange.
- Along Shosseynaya Street in Essentuki. Stop: "Poselok Geologov" of Essentuki minibuses #2, 11, 16, 21. Walk left to the interchange along Shosseynaya Street.
East towards Georgievsk via R264
- Take any minibus marked "Lira Market." You can hitchhike about 4 km to the junction with the new bypass.
- From Lira Market itself, local minibuses travel to Georgievsk and many other cities and settlements.
