Language: EnglishI was heading towards Ingolstadt from here which was quite a bit difficult. I first tried to stand at the road where is very little space for drivers to pull over but still it works. There is also a gas station at the opposite side so try both. To Augsburg would have been easier. It took me more than one hour in the bitter cold German March time until someone gave me a ride to Ingolstadt.

It's def worth it to walk a bit the road out of the city until you reach the gas station. We found a ride to Zagreb right away. Friends of us who were standing at the road instead were waiting for ages.

Heading to Mostar I was standing here for one day with no car stopping. Don't know if I had a bad day or so. There is tons of cars passing by, there is also two gas stations around (with very unfriendly staff who sent me off) but not a single person willing to help.

09/2012: We made our way to get there which took us more than one hour...and yeah it's been completely abandoned. So what we did was going to the exit of the gas station and tried to stop someone directly on the highway. By modifying the construction marks a bit we facilitated drivers to pull over :) It worked out after 45 minutes so it is not impossible! But still not to recommend

Language: EnglishHeading north to Brescia/Verona: This is actually just another gas station on the highway. Heading to Bologna from here you'll def find someone. Brescia/Verona was a bit harder though. In addition I wanted to add that in case you get stuck here as I did at late night there is a golf field just behind the gas station. If you're advanturous enough (and don't have a tent on you) jump over the fence, cross the golf field and you will see some cabines where you are save from the weather. I spend a quite comfortable night there without being disturbed by someone :)

Heading to Nice: Def a good spot whereas I was standing exactly at the round-about a few metres before where people can easily pull over. If you came from Marseille by bus as I did get off at the station BEAUVALLE (first stop in Aix) which is only a few hundred metres to walk from there. Thumbs up!

Heading to Nice by myself: I can confirm that there is not humongous space for cars to pull over and yeah cars already get quite fast so there is very short time for drivers to decide. Very few cars stopped but no chance to get someone for my direction. I gave up after 90 minutes and took the bus to Aix-en-Provence which was def the right decision! So my recommendation: Take the bus (5,20 Euros) from the bus station at the Gare St. Charles, hop off at the first station in Aix (the bus stoppes also before the main station there, station called BEAUVALLE) and just walk back a few hundred metres to the entrance of the highway where the bus just came from. There is a round-about just before people enter the highway where there is a good spot for drivers to stop.

I was here on my way to Italy by myself and it took me hours to find someone. Important is that you find someone who is going at least until the boarder, Monaco is not enough. Also the last gas station right after Monaco supposed to be not so well frequented. Anyway, lot of rich somewhat older people passing by here which made it a bit difficult for me.

Getting a ride from here towards Brescia/Bergamo worked out well. Don't let yourself get scared off by the big sign which says "No Autostopp". I was standing next to it, four police cars passed me and no one cared about it :) Sign is necessary since people can take both directions! I was waiting for about 30 mins I guess until someone took me to a gas station on the highway.

05/23/2013 Had a hell of a time getting a lift -- 6 hours to go just a few miles south. Seems that people aren't very receptive to hitchhikers here. Lately there have been an outpouring of highway patrol (probably because of Memorial Day). I'd just avoid the Vegas area at all costs; it really sucks!

Never ever go there, I don't know who marked that spot, but I'am quite sure he or she has never been there because you just can't get on the motorway there wether it is the A8 to Munich/Stuttgart or the B10. There's no on ramp on the motorway its just a crossing for the A8 and the B10 without a possibilty to get on or off the motorway.

We were really lucky, we just come there and a kind man offered himself to take us to montpellier. He told us that there are often hitch-hikers waiting and that's not hard to get a ride.

We tried to get a ride to France from here but it turned out to be very difficult. There were a few people going this way but they didn't take us (a girl and me). The problem is that if you wanna go to France you need someone who's going directly since there is no gas station before people turn from the A5 to Switzerland towards Mulhouse. So what we did was taking a ride to the north until the second gas station near Appenweiher. There you can easily switch to the other side of the highway just crossing a bridge. We found a ride immediately to France and made it until Marseille at the same day.

Language: EnglishThis is a stop lane around 50m north-east of the metro station. If you come from the station you need to cross the road once (danger this is a quite high speed road but cars arrive in waves due to traffic lights). Good point: Police passed once seeing us waiting and did nothing.

Language: EnglishGood spot when going to the north. Might also come handy if you're looking for a better entry to Berlin (e.g. your driver goes to the west but you prefer the east). Enough cars stop and asking people or waiting with a sign near the exit works.

Indeed, this place looks perfect but a big deal of cars stay in the city. Just walk a few hundred meters along the Hansastrasse and wait near the McDonalds store.

In 2012 I left this place with the third car... U need just to ask on the border gate.
Remember to go at least to Nagykanizsa, it will be much easier to reach the motorway from the city.

When u reach the bridge, U need just to jump over the small, but deep river, than climb on the road and wait... someone for sure will appear and take U (and I don't think about police).

Language: EnglishAlthough it took me about 4h to get a hitch to Almería, this is not a bad place to get a lift. A few km away the motorway splits into two: one goes to Almería, and the other to Murcia: most trucks were going to the latter. Some cars/trucks did also stop here on their way to Granada.

This is good for cars south to Granada. It took me 15-20mins to get a hitch.

We have waited there at least 20mins and no one stopped us. there are only taxis and if you will see the normal car, its full or its not going to Aarhus. We had to walk all of this way to the big crossroad on highway-during 45mins of walk to this point, no one have stopped us.

Language: EnglishGreat place when you are going to Aarhus airport/Grena or anywhere in the north-east part of Jutland. We were hitchhiking at the bus stop Grenåvej /Ravnsøvej and got the car in 15 mins. Just remember that you are standing at the bus stop and if you stop a car and talk with the person, the bus driver behind you will be nervous as waiting for free space :)
