Random Trivia

amylin is working artist, model, certified Thai Massage Therapist, and world-renowned vegan chef from Brooklyn, New York City, who later moved to Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and began hitchhiking around North America (and later, the world) from there. She details some of her hitchhiking trips in her blog, as well as through letters and drawings...most of which are addressed to an old friend, Nelson Ferreira, who she had only met for 2 weeks of her life, more than 2 years ago.

She plans to visit every country in the world before she dies, mostly on her own. She has hitchhiked a lot with Guaka, but finds that she waits much less for rides when she is on her own, and that Guaka is careless, lazy, and takes too many beautiful things in life for granted. And, amylin is one of the rare breed of girls who is somewhat fearless when it comes to hitchhiking. What does she fear most on the road? Bad weather and getting stuck in too much traffic... and in some encounters, the police (but not often).

News and Updates

- amylin is planning to exhibit the artwork she made while traveling, and is searching for a nice, small independent gallery or museum in Northeast North America. Please e-mail her if you have any suggestions.

- Recently (as of August 2007), amylin was interviewed by Jeff Stark for the series Where Have You Been? about her hitchhiking experiences in Asia, at BlueStockings Radical Bookstore in New York City.
