San Pedro de Atacama is a city in Chile.
Hitchhiking out
East/North towards Argentina/Bolivia
For any destination in Argentina (Jujuy, Salta) or Bolivia, take the Ruta 27 (the one leading to the airport and to Paso de Jama). The junction with Ruta 23 is a good point to start hitchhiking.
Around 40km east of San Pedro there's the roads splits:
- the road turning left (B 243) leads to Bolivia. As of 09/2018 looks in a good state, not sure about hitchhikability;
- the road following straight (Ruta 27) goes to the Paso de Jama and then to Argentina. The route is truly beautiful, just beware of altitude (gets as high as 4800 mslm).
