Don't go to the petrol station/mall south from Lahti. It [[Guaka]] and Erga hours and hours to get out of there. It's probably better to try getting to the old road to Helsinki.

From the centrum of Lahti, walk 3km to a motorway ramp of road #4. Walk north on Aleksanterinkatu and Karjalankatu to a T-crossroad. walk 200m left (Kouvola direction) and by a small crossroad. Hitch-hike from the second crossroad on a ramp. The walk takes about 30min.

After Lahti there is a gib Motorest called Tähtihovi. Make sure you will get there, if your ride is going to Heinola. Otherwise you may have to walk through the whole city. There are a lot of cops around Heinola, too.

Walk on it to south about 20min until you see a McDonald's and a K-rauta (hardware store). Next to K-rauta there is a bus stop, which is a good hithc-hiking place. you can also try to find a bus from Kauppatori that goes to that bus stop.

Walk from the marketplace on a road that goes by the conservatory and by the bus station on al hill. This road is the old road to Helsinki (if you want experience the real country life :). From the top of the hill there goes a road down to right, it leads to Tampere. Walk along it about 5-10min, over the railroad and over a walking road. There is a traffic light next to a bus stop, where you can usually catch a ride to at least Hollola.

The road going to Riihimäaki goes left right after Hollola. This road takes you also to Turku.
