Columbus is a city in Georgia. Columbus is a tough city to hitch out of. The people are not used to seeing hitchhikers and may think of you as a joke. Many people will pretend to pull over and then race away. Try to remain patient. It may take a couple of days to get out of town, even if people are going to the same location as you. There is heavy crime in many areas so it is recommended to avoid hitching or sleeping outdoors at night.

Hitchhiking directly on the highway is probably the easiest method to leave town. Although this is illegal, this law is seldomly enforced. Use discretion.
