Diastema81 is a 34 year old Italian guy. A late bloomer in the world of hitch-hiking, He never liked travelling till aged 34, when he left his London apartment, job & girlfriend (NOTE: they actually still together) and started his journey in SA. His trip took a turn when he arrived in Chetumal, Mexico. There he found a diary of another fellow traveller who had been there before him. The guy, who signed himself as Sal Paradise, had made his way through SA by hitch-hiking. Reading those notes inspired diastema to "stick his thumb out" (he has know done about 10.000k in 7 months) as well as to write his own blog.
