Piotr, thanks for your advise. I travelled before across quite some part of Poland and found it until that particular day great to hitch, even at night people stop for you. Friday evening, 19.30h. Tristan and me arrive at the on-ramp in Oldenzaal-Hanzepoort, the Netherlands. It’s the beginning of our trip eastwards, me personally continuing towards Moscow. Volgograd might be also nice to visit on the way to Sochi. Oh, and if you’re flexible as well, we could also maybe hitch to Moscow via Germany-Wroclaw-Krakow-Lviv-Kyiv.
